Blackpill Lido, Swansea, has recently been named among the UK’s Top 5 Lidos in research carried out by Fulton Umbrellas. It was the only one in Wales to be singled out, and held its head high along with four others from Brighton, London, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

At Bayview, Oxwich we’re delighted to see that Rhossili Bay and Three Cliffs Bay in Gower have both figured in the Top 10 beaches in Wales in the recent and much-coveted best British beach guide published by The Sunday Times.

We’ve always know that Swansea, Wales’ city by the sea, is a very special place. That’s why we were delighted to come home to Gower to set up our holiday rental accommodation at Bayview, Oxwich. We knew that we’d have the best of both worlds on our doorstep: the tranquillity here at Bayview and the buzz of the city only a twenty-minute drive away.

We are delighted here at Bayview, that fabulous chef, Hywel Griffith, of the acclaimed Michelin Star Beach House Restaurant right here on the beach front at Oxwich, made it through to the final of #GreatBritishMenu 2021. We were cheering him on every step of the way through this iconic BBC television show.

Our visitors to Bayview often ask us what we can recommend to enhance their holiday experience in Gower. They are especially interested in the authentic experiences Gower can offer: whether it’s a steer to some of the best restaurants for a true taste of Gower’s food and drink, or walks that introduce them to Gower’s less trodden and hidden paths.

Our guests here at Bayview, Oxwich are often asking us to point them in the direction of Gower’s hidden face – the wealth of history and culture that exists in the peninsula alongside the miles of sandy beaches and dramatic limestone cliffs that it is famed for. They tell us this makes for a more enriching holiday and that it is so satisfying to be privy to special information and Gower’s secrets.

Television viewers in Wales will be familiar with Derek Brockway – Derek the Weather – for his daily appearances on BBC Wales outlining what’s in store for us with the weather. Television viewers outside Wales might know him for his popular BBC television series Weatherman Walking, in which he introduces his audience to perhaps lesser known, and most definitely, hidden gems of walks across the length and breadth of Wales.

We were delighted to welcome guests from within Wales back to Bayview in time for the Easter Holidays. It was lovely to see people out and about enjoying the grounds (and the weather) here in Oxwich. We celebrated by organising an Easter Egg Hunt (socially distanced!) and everyone enjoyed.

Our family loves to explore Gower in many different ways: walking on our own two legs, cycling on two wheels, and since Freddie the horse has become the latest addition to the family, our girls have started to see Gower from a new perspective from the saddle of their four-legged friend.

Sometimes it’s good to remind ourselves, and our visitors, at Bayview, Oxwich, just how highly Wales rates as a destination for world-class golfing experiences.
