Star Attraction – Beach House Restaurant, Oxwich

Since it opened its doors in early 2016, we’ve known here at Bayview that Beach House Restaurant, Oxwich, www.beachhouseoxwich.co.uk is a very special place. That’s why we’ve been going to eat there as often as we can, as a family, this last three years. And recommending it to our guests.

It was no surprise, yet great news, to hear that on 7th October, Beach House Restaurant, with proud Chef Patron and Director, Hywel Griffith, at its helm, had been awarded a Michelin Star. This is the latest in a string of awards and accolades (including 3 AA Rosettes and AA Restaurant of the Year 2018/19) for Hywel. It is also a first for Gower and now puts it at the heart of the UK map for foodies.

If you’ve not yet heard about Beach House Restaurant, you soon will. It’s set right on the water’s edge, with views towards iconic Three Cliff Bays. It’s a light-filled, modern space with an unpretentious ambience. That’s why we feel so relaxed going there with our three young girls.

And then there’s the food! Hywel is passionate and creative, preparing innovative dishes that make best use of Gower’s exceptional local produce: distinctive lamb from the salt-marshes of the north of the peninsula, vegetables from the local farms, sea-food and freshly-caught lobster from the fisherman right outside the restaurant, and Hywel’s signature laverbread bread which is a favourite with Alice, our youngest.

Now with this on our doorstep there’s even more reason to come and stay with us at Bayview Oxwich. We’re a short walk from Beach House Restaurant so no need to drive. We are pretty special in Oxwich too, in that though we’re near to the beach, we’re unique in offering spectacular views from our elevated position. We offer holiday rental properties at different price points: cosy beach bungalows, luxury rental apartments and from next summer, detached, high-spec, eco-friendly houses, all set in acres of private, landscaped grounds.
