Coffee shops have played a part in the everyday life of the UK since the 17th Century. Today, coffee is ever-more popular with the beverage being much more than a drink, and coffee shops serving as social hubs for relaxation and connection.
Nowhere is this more evident than in our very own Gower peninsula and Mumbles, a Victorian village and our nearby neighbour by the sea, just a 20-min drive from Bayview Oxwich.
Gone are the days of instant coffee and instead Gower and Mumbles are awash with speciality coffees from ethical locations with gorgeous coffee shops offering innovative beverages and a feel-good factor, a sense of relaxation and reassurance in lovely locations.
We are proud to let our visitors to Bayview know about these coffee shop experiences where they can unwind, kick back and enjoy a chat over a coffee by the sea, at any time of the year.
Here are three of our favourites:
1. Sloth Coffee
The very popular Sloth Coffee has recently opened its third coffee shop in the Swansea area with its latest addition in Mumbles adding to its presence in Brynmill and Uplands. Expect to find speciality coffee brands here at the seafront in Mumbles as well as speciality pastries from Rhannu Bakes. Unwind. Slow down. Take in the views as well as the coffee. Seating indoors and outdoors. More at www.slothcoffeeco.com
2. St Hugo Bakery and Café
Situated in the vibrant retail and food quarter of Mumbles on Newton Road, you’ll find a top-notch coffee set-up loved by locals and visitors alike. Add in, as you’d expect from the name, French-style pastries and you’ve got a go-to café with a welcoming vibe, summer and winter. More at www.sthugobakery.com
3. Foam Coffee
Located at the Southend part of Mumbles near the swings and right on the seafront you’ll come across Foam Coffee. Here you’ll find the coming together of coastal blend Welsh calm and South African energy. Expect to savour exceptional coffee and healthy eats such as Athlete’s Kitchen, wraps, bagels and fresh pastries. Find more on Instagram @coffee_foam.
These are just three taken from countless other coffee shop locations across the peninsula. They go to prove that here at Bayview Oxwich in the Gower peninsula we like coffee – or as we say in Welsh, dyn ni’n hoffi coffi.
We look forward to welcoming you here at Bayview Oxwich to enjoy a unique coastal experience in one of our luxury holiday rental properties. If you need any help, our Team at Bayview Oxwich will be happy to talk you through which of our exclusive retreats, contemporary or character cottages, spacious apartments and simply stylish bungalows would be the best fit to you, your family or group of friends.
