It’s hard to believe that it’s that time of year once again and Christmas is just around the corner. At Bayview Oxwich, the realisation was made clear when we saw the marketing starting to appear for ‘We Love Mumbles’, an annual event in the charming Victorian village which announces that Christmas is well and truly almost here.
This year (2026) marks the sixteenth year for this hotly anticipated event on Thursday, 26 November, which sees locals and visitors alike come together for Mumbles’ biggest evening of the year when traffic is stopped and roads are closed to allow for Christmas shopping and much, much more.
At 3pm the roads will be closed and the action will begin. Expect to see and join in the parade, meet Santa in the RNLI lifeboat, see the Christmas lights being switched on at the Ostreme Centre at 7pm, as well as enjoying a feast of children’s rides, stalls and live music.
If you’ve been thinking of making a trip to Germany or Belgium for the markets but don’t want the stress, why not make Bayview Oxwich your easy-to-get-to UK bolt hole this November and December and share in the magic of Christmas in the buzz of Mumbles.
Thursday 26th November is the date the fun begins, but it doesn’t stop on that night. Mumbles is a wonderful destination just a 20-min drive from Bayview Oxwich where you can shop until you drop at tasteful gift shops, browse art galleries, clothes shops and wonderful delicatessens for those special presents. When you’re tired there are coffee shops and cafés galore to cheer the spirit as well as many pubs and wine bars. You’ll be amazed at the atmosphere and the friendliness all round.
And when you’re done, you can kick back here in the quiet of Bayview Oxwich.
