5 cracking things to do at Christmas in Gower

The Festive Season starts early in Gower and Swansea, with a long list of Christmas and wintery experiences and events getting going in the next couple of weeks.  So it’s a great time of year to come and stay in one of our luxury rental properties at Bayview, Oxwich: the crowds are few but there’s so much to do.

Here are 5 cracking things you and your family can do in Gower in the run up to Christmas and into the New Year.

  1. Enjoy a day out at Gower Fresh Christmas Trees Farm, at Poundffald Farm, Three Crosses, Swansea. Here you can immerse yourself in a complete Christmas Experience. You can roam free on the farm land, choose from a diverse range of quality Christmas trees, feed the reindeer and visit the Christmas grotto, and receive a present from Santa. The Christmas season starts here on 9th November. To learn more and find out opening times, please visit www.gowerfreshchristmastrees.co.uk

  2. Take to the ice at Swansea’s Waterfront Winterland between 8th November, 2022 and 8th January, 2023. Situated in the Museum Park at Swansea’s Waterfront Museum, here you’ll find everyone’s favourite attractions – a covered ice rink, an open-air ice walk, and the much-talked-about Alpine Village where you can enjoy festive food, socialise and soak up the atmosphere. To find out more, please take a trip to www.visitswanseabay.com

  3. Drop in to the impressive spaces of Swansea’s National Waterfront Museum between 9th and 11th December free of charge to delight in a Winter Vintage and Makers Market. This is the perfect place to find a unique treat or gift. To find out more, please visit, www.museum.wales

  4. Shop until you drop in the Victorian village of Mumbles. Here you’ll find art galleries selling local artists and gifts, quality boutiques selling well-known brands, a wonderful independent book shop, Cover to Cover, as well as a host of butchers, bakers, and possibly candlestick makers. When you’re done, feast at one of Mumbles many restaurants and cafes. The lights get turned on in Mumbles on 24th November at 17.00 when the roads will be closed and all the shops will stay open late.

  5. Drive a little further if you want to be part of Luminate Wales. Enjoy Margam Country Park or Wales’ National Botanic Garden at Llanarthne. Here you can walk the spectacular illuminated trails full of wonder and intrigue to delight and enthral your senses. The trails offer stunning lighting elements and interactive light play suitable for kids (and grown up kids!). See https://luminate.live/ for opening times and ticketing.
