Prepare to be charmed by the Dolphin Inn, Gower
If you’re looking for a pub that typifies how pubs used to be, full of tradition and old-world charm and not pretension, then look no further than Gower’s very own Dolphin Inn, in Llanrhidian.
The Dolphin Inn is at the heart of village life in this estuary village, but its welcome goes much further: that’s why so many of our visitors here at Bayview Oxwich are smitten with it. It’s a cosy (just a single room with a small room off for darts and pool) pub dating from the 18th century, with a wood-fire, fresh flowers on the tables, and wonderful hosts in Babs and Richard. It stands close to the village green with its ancient megaliths, and just over the stile in its extensive beer garden, is the 13th Century Church dedicated to St Rhidian and St Illtyd.
We agree with comments on ‘Trip Adviser’ that says that the Dolphin Inn might be “the best and most welcoming pub in Gower.” No wonder then that it is so loved by the local bowls club and societies, but also by walkers and cyclists – all of whom recognise its special something not to mention the great beers! Babs and Rich have touched it with their magic and personalities now offering quiz night, live music, curry nights and a venue for a host of charity-raising events.
We thoroughly recommend you take a trip there. Just 15-mins from Oxwich, as well as seeing Bayview Oxwich owner, Ellen’s grandfather, 97-year-old Ted in the bar, you’ll find the following:
