Rhossili Sunflowers – Gower’s most visited attraction

With the kids just about to break up from school, and the long summer holidays almost here, there is no better time than to make Bayview Oxwich your base if you’re looking for a first-class coastal family holiday experience in the Gower peninsula.

And if you’re looking for a wonderful day out while you’re here, then you must spend some time at Rhossili Sunflowers, Gower’s most visited attraction. Just a 15-min drive from Bayview Oxwich will take you to Rhossili Sunflowers – 8 acres of glorious sunflowers grown in what is called the Vile, formerly known for vegetable production in a mediaeval field strip pattern.

The sunflowers bloom from mid-July onwards so perfect for a day out with the kids while they’re off school. They’ll be amazed to see over 400,000 sunflowers comprising over 10 different varieties and a range of colours, all with the backdrop of the iconic tidal island of Worm’s Head in the background as well as the dramatic sweep of Rhossili Bay.

The experience also offers a Pick Your Own (PYO) option where children (and adults) can pick their own sunflowers grown from seed and take them home from the specially designated PYO field.

There is also a special field for a fun-filled nature/Gruffalo trail among the sunflowers where children can find wooden animal sculptures that they can tick off on their own trail card as they encounter them.

Many of our guests to Bayview Oxwich have had a special memory photo taken at Rhossili Sunflowers where there’s a beautiful sunflower arch that makes for the perfect image!

Rhossili Sunflowers is open daily from 09.30 until dusk but closes on bad weather days.
