Three Cliffs Bay makes The Times and The Sunday Times UK Top 50 beaches – again!
At the risk of being boring, Bayview Oxwich is yet again delighted (and not surprised) that our near and dear, Three Cliffs Bay, has made the prestigious 2026 list of the UK’s Top 50 beaches complied by The Times and The Sunday Times.
This 18th annual guide to the UK’s best beaches was the results of the survey of 607 longlisted beaches over 4,307 miles, personally inspected and published by The Times chief travel writer, Chris Haslam. In the eight-week run-up to publication, Haslam assessed all the beaches on a 12-point checklist including cleanliness, accessibility, parking, lifeguard provision, toilet and shower facilities, dog-friendliness, water quality, and community engagement.
Three Cliffs Bay is one of eight Welsh beaches selected for the guide, and hand on heart at Bayview Oxwich we can say that this man knows what he’s talking about, endorsing what we and our many guests tell us is their favourite bay. It is a bay that is not only physically close to us here at Bayview (just a ten min-drive or a 20-min flat walk along the sandy sweep of Oxwich Bay via Tor Point, but also close to our heart, it being symbolised in our distinctive and well-loved logo!
Haslam describes it as follows:
“For sheer, staggering magnificence of the place you must see Three Cliffs Bay at least once in your lifetime. If you’re lucky with the weather and mindful of the tide, you’ll catch this vast sandy inlet, crossed by the winding stream called the Pennard Pill and overshadowed by not three but a dozen limestone cliffs, at its primeval best. You could wander the world for a lifetime, as I have, in search of another beach of such elemental beauty, but don’t bet on finding one.”
