Fun Family Activities at Easter in Gower
With Spring on the way, and the children off from school for the Easter holidays, we’re happy to welcome families with kids in tow to Bayview Oxwich.
We’re always asked what there is to entertain children in Gower at Easter and this year, we’re pleased to say that there are two great events we’d like to flag up.
On our doorstep – Oxwich Castle
Sometimes we take for granted what’s right on our doorstep at Bayview, Oxwich. It’s only when we (and our guests) look right, do we see the past very much in the present. Such is the case with Oxwich Castle, just a short walk from Bayview.
Tŷ Sawna – Oxwich’s new Sauna by the Sea
Reading this feature, you might at first assume that the name, Tŷ Sawna, is a new addition to our luxury holiday rental accommodation Tŷ portfolio here at Bayview, Oxwich. All our current luxury flats and contemporary cottages use Tŷ (the Welsh for house) to identify them: Tŷ Megan, Tŷ Flo, Tŷ Alice, Tŷ Gwawr and Tŷ Seren.
Three Gower Shipwrecks – a walk back in time along Rhossili Bay
At Bayview, Oxwich on the south side of Gower, we’re relatively sheltered from the prevalent south-westerly winds that buffet the north and western edges of the peninsula. When the summer sun shines, and the sea is calm, it’s hard to imagine that Gower has been the graveyard over time for 250+ vessels that have come to grief in storm-force conditions along its treacherous coastline.
Once Upon a Time – The Old Gower Fairy Tales
We recently stopped by the lovely Cover to Cover, an award-winning, independent book shop in Newton Road, Mumbles, run by the very knowledgeable (and dear friend) Tim Batcup. Tim’s always on hand with recommendations on what books we might buy.
Knowing that we have guests staying at our holiday rental properties at Bayview, Oxwich from all across the UK, he thought we and them might be interested in a gem of a beautiful book, The Old Gower Fairy Tales, by Sian Cornelius.
Traditional Gower Breakfast – eat in or eat out
Our last blog focused on the great news that Wales will host the 2026 Worldchefs Congress & Expo 2026 with its winning theme of ‘Pasture, Passion, Plate’.
On that theme, we’re staying close to home, and offering you a traditional Gower breakfast recipe that showcases the pasture (and coast) of the Gower peninsula, the passion of our local producers and retailers, and the ease in which you can combine ingredients and plate it up.
Eating out in Gower – Five fresh foodie favourites for 2023
Fresh out of the oven is the wonderful news that the world’s biggest culinary event is coming to Wales in 2026 after Wales defeated Italy 28-24 in a final vote. The Worldchefs Congress & Expo will bring together a global body of hospitality professionals, attracting 1,000 chefs, 5,000 visitors from 100+ countries when it convenes at Wales’ iconic International Conference Centre (ICC) in Newport. This equates with the World Cup coming to Wales!

5 Cool for Kids Activities in Gower and south Wales
At Bayview, Oxwich, when we can tear ourselves away from the beautiful Gower peninsula, to go on holiday with our three girls, the first thing we want to know is: What’s there to do for kids where we’re heading.
