At the risk of being boring, Bayview Oxwich is yet again delighted (and not surprised) that our near and dear, Three Cliffs Bay, has made the prestigious 2026 list of the UK’s Top 50 beaches complied by The Times and The Sunday Times.

The countdown has already begun for the return of the annual Gower Walking Festival. It’s just two months to go before the 9-day event running this year, from Saturday 5^th September to Sunday 13^th September.

There’s a real summer buzz and vibe this July in Gower and Swansea, our lovely city by the sea. But nothing sums it all up as well as the word ‘jamboree’ to capture the fun, spectacle, shared excitement and festival atmosphere that this month brings to locals and visitors alike.

We’ve recently celebrated a big birthday for our very own Gower peninsula. On 9th May, we took time to count our blessings for the world class countryside on our doorstep as we recognised Gower’s 70 years as the UK’s first ever designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB 1956).

…so says Lydia Pang, respected travel journalist and author, in May’s edition of British Vogue. Pang who has spent years living in London, New York, and Portland, has recently returned to live in Wales with her husband, Roo.

A lot has been happening recently in Swansea, our nearby city by the sea, including an ambitious multi-million-pound development in its Victorian village suburb of Mumbles,  ensuring this beautiful place is accessible for the next century.

It’s sometimes worth reminding ourselves at Bayview Oxwich that Wales has the accolade of having the world’s first dedicated path to cover an entire country’s coast. Opened in 2012, the complete path is 1,400 kilometres long and runs from Queensberry in the north to Chepstow in the south. 

Gower is buzzing with talk of Olive, the brand-new wine & tapas experience in the glorious countryside retreat setting at Oldwalls, at the foot of Gower’s spine, the wonderful Cefn Bryn.

The clocks have gone forward, the evenings are drawing out,  everything is in bud and spring is settling over the Gower peninsula. At this time of year Gower’s coastline feels especially magical — wildflowers beginning to bloom, beaches peacefully quiet, and the soft promise of warmer days ahead. It’s a wonderful moment to pause, breathe, and enjoy the beauty that makes this corner of Wales so special.

How great it was recently to wake up, turn on the television, and see our very local, and very wonderful, Tŷ Sawna Oxwich make a splash on BBC Breakfast.

Rhossili Bay, Gower, has recently achieved yet another amazing accolade. This time it was for being recognised as the UK’s finest beach 2026, from TripAdvisor.
