The Times UK Top 50 beaches highlights Three Cliffs Gower

At Bayview Oxwich we sometimes take for granted the stunning cliff and coastal scenery and beautiful bays right in front of our eyes. Such is the case with Three Cliffs Bay, Gower, with its iconic limestone cliffs which we can see from our 12-cares of elevated private grounds and from many of our collection of luxury rental properties. And it is only a 20-min flat walk away by beach and less than a 10-min drive by car.

We weren’t surprised recently therefore to discover that Three Cliffs bay has figured, yet again, in The Times much-anticipated list of UK Top 50 beaches for 2025. This year, in rigorous preparation for The Times 17th edition of this list, Chris Haslam, Chief Travel Writer, visited 756 beaches and 51 resorts over the course of a 4,858-mile circumnavigation of the British and Northern Irish shores to arrive at his pared-down selection.

Wales, as ever, punched above its weight for such a small country, coming in with 8 beaches in the top 50, and Three Cliffs taking its rightful place in Haslam’s list reflecting his search for the “perfect swathe of sand.”

In his round up, Haslam writes of the “magnificence of Three Cliffs Bay, with the wide waters of Pennard Pill snaking across the sands…and the crags of Penmaen Burrows, where the lost village of Stedwarlango is thought to be buried …and the dragon-tooth spikes of Three Cliffs.” Impressive, eh?
