Forgive us here at Bayview, Oxwich for giving a shout out (again!) to yet another award that has been bestowed on one of Gower’s most iconic beaches – Rhossili Bay. But our view is that you can never have too much of a good thing!

2024 sees an ever-increasing interest in wild or open water-swimming. At Bayview we haven’t yet tried it ourselves but someone in our close family is always flagging up the benefits. It is said to be a sensory experience like no other and a chance to live in the moment and forget the stresses of everyday life. So we might just give it a go!

On 11th September, 2023, Series 4, Episode 6 of Channel 4’s award-winning food series, Remarkable Places to Eat, focused entirely on south Wales, featuring Asador 44, The Black Bear and our very own Michelin-starred, The Beach House Restaurant, right here in Oxwich.

Swansea’s Secret Beach Bar & Kitchen is not a well-kept secret anymore. And rightly so! In September, The Times recognised this Bayview Oxwich’s favourite go-to eatery as one of the UK’s seven best beach cafes.

It’s becoming a regular occurrence these days to see our very local and very wonderful Michelin starred Beach House Restaurant Oxwich, rightly applauded in so many awards and reviews across the UK.

There’s something magical about September here in Gower when the crowds have gone and you feel you have this glorious peninsula almost to yourself. We often get the gift of late summer sunshine along with fantastic September swells which make our beaches a heaven on earth for surfers.

September is a beautiful month in Gower: quiet beaches, the heathers carpeting the downs, blackberries hanging in the hedgerows. And it’s also the month that sees not one, but two wonderful walking festivals. So lace up your boots and get ready to walk this wonderful peninsula.
